Today we took Cameron to his new High School to get his schedule, books, locker and ID card. It was today that I came to realize that the little boy who looked into the window at the hospital at Chad saying, "Id dat my brudder? Dat's my brudder - Chad Edward!" is growing past my imagination! There is something about walking a little ahead of me or a little behind that makes him feel more grown and makes me feel a little sad. Don't get me wrong, I want him to grow up, I just don't like the process. He still loves me, but wants a little room. Karla and I noticed a lot of guys doing this today with their parents. They refuse to walk beside their parents. The school he is attending is new and finding the classrooms is something like finding a book in a library's Dewey Decimal System... takes some time! I have threatened to go in with him on the first day, just to get a little argument out of him. He just starts laughing and shaking his head.
Yesterday we took Chad- our baby- to his new Middle School. He is really excited to be out of Elementary School - but this is "dat liddle brudder" that Cameron was so happy about! He is choosing electives now! Thankfully, he is a little more proud to walk beside me and for me to help him in this process. In fact, he said we could come eat lunch with him sometime. We did that at West Foundation Elementary in Wichita Falls. He may change at some point this year, but for now he still wants us around.
I plan to enjoy the next few years, because they are passing quicker than I want to admit.

Gene,
It brought tears to my eyes, because Mallory is starting to act the same way. Walking a little ahead or behind us, starting in her high school stuff this year - Taylor is still a little like Chad, staying a little closer. We were watching some home videos, and I just busted out crying watching my "babies". Now I know what our parents went through!
Carla
I'm glad to know that I am not the only one! Good to hear from you. We are not old ... are we?
