Here Comes Heaven

Eddy Arnold, the gentleman crooner who took country music uptown and sold more than 85 million recordings over seven decades, died Thursday. He was 89.
It caught my attention in the news this morning because it was one of his songs that I sang as my beautiful bride came down the aisle in our wedding. In fact, it was a family tradition started by my brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wendell and Linda Elms. They started something neat!  The song was "Here Comes Heaven." We had to change the hair and eye colors to fit the bride in each wedding but each groom sang it to introduce them.  It brought back a lot of memories!  The words still hold true for me.  I found it interesting that Eddie Arnold's wife of 66 years just passed away March 11 and he is gone less than two months later.  Here's the song, but be careful to stare at the video too long— it will make you dizzy watching that old record turn!

How sweet! Kent sang "Welcome to My World" to me. Then to make the song even more special he rewrote it twice for each of our children's dedications and sang to each of them! He used lines such as as "your laying here in your blankets pink and furled....welcome to our world" such sweet memories! Thanks for helping recreate them in my mind.

Ahhhh...I can't believe Eddy Arnold died! I loved his songs and, of course my favorite was, "Here Comes Heaven"! I can still hear Wendell singing it as I walked down the aisle. It was wonderful!!! We really have had a "heavenly life"!

Karla, I know you're just wanting to "get an argument started", so I'll just have to say, YOU'RE WRONG and end it there! LOL! (love you Gene)

That's OK! Thanks for the compliment Karla - I guess I could say, "You were a really little girl when the others sang it - so you may not know what you are talking about!!"

Karla, I don't "have to" say anything I don't WANT to say! LOL! Besides, if Wendell hadn't sung it FIRST you wouldn't have had the idea for YOUR wedding!! LOL!
