Just wanted to say thank you to three people who named us with the "You Make Me Smile Award." We enjoy reading many blogs and staying up with friends and family. We also enjoy sharing the great things that God is doing. It is kind of like an old fashioned ""Bless You Testimony Service!" Anyone ever participated in one of these? One person testifies and then before they sit down they "bless" someone else in the church to stand and testify. That goes on until EVERYONE in the church has testified. This was something I remember as a child. I haven't seen that done in many, many years.....thank the Lord! It took forever, especially for a little kid!!!!!We were blessed by Christina Isom from Wichita Falls, Texas, Tena Valenti from Hollister, California, and Don Ryan of Mount Vernon, Ohio- how's that for reaching across America!
You also never know who is reading - I met Bro. Randy Nelson (I think that's right) for the first time at the Burnet Church-In-A-Day project and found out that he regularly reads our blog! ( Make a comment to me brother, if you would, and make sure I have your name right.) He was quite a worker with a great attitude!
We will bless... Jana Allard, Keith and Carla Clark, and Joseph Ouellette
And now, "Pray for us that we will make Heaven our home!" Isn't that the famous last sentence of everyone's testimony?

I do remember those testimony services. There was one guy (Bro Featherstone) who always said "This life is just a dressing room for eternity". I don't remember anything else that he said, just that one phrase, because he said it every single time he testified and it sure stuck! I'll never forget Bro. and Sis. Featherstone. It was Sis. Featherstone that taught the Sunday School lesson that brought me and my Mom into the church. We don't have many testimony services anymore, but I used to love to hear peaple testify. Still do, as long as it's not me!!
Love to read your blog!!
Or...."Pray for me that I'll make it all the way". I didn't like those kind of testimony services. LOL
or from a visitor from another church.... "It's so good to be with you all. No matter where you go the presence of God is the same and we feel right at home" or words to that effect. That seemed to be the "pat" testimony from a vistor. LOL
Isn't that funny that people would say the same things in churches all over the world? I have heard these you have mentioned also! This is great.
Or..."the devil's been chasing me all day long, just pray for me that I make heaven my home."
I LOVED Grandpa Pound's testimony: "I'm on my way to heaven and I just thought I'd stop by and have church with you tonight."
I also remember "Popcorn Testimony Servies"! Those were FUN! The testimony's were suppose to be kept really short, like "Praise the Lord!" "God is Great!" "I'm glad I've got the Holy Ghost!" "He saves, He keeps, He satisfies!" One person at a time would say a "one liner", and as soon as they sat down somone stood and said their "one liner"! I'll never forget these. Maybe we ought to try it again, sometime! :)
By the way Gene, you deserved the "SMILE" award. I'm glad you were "blessed".
"The devil chased me 'round the stump. Nearly caught me every jump. Bless his 'holy' name." lol
We have an elderly lady that has been in our church nearly all my life and she has this very high, sing-songy voice. She has never testified without beginning, "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord." In Spanish first, then English. :) She is a great lady.
How about the closing line of many testimonies - "Pray my strength in the Lord." :)
Thanks for the smile award. This post sure has brought back many memories and alot of smiles to me.
