Away from the grind

I found out today that although the carpet was supposed to be installed this morning, it was being rescheduled for tomorrow morning! I took it a little easier today and finished cleaning out trash and tools. We still have a little trim paint to do and three more doors, but I will work on them tomorrow and Thursday since they are not where the new carpet will be. Because of the rescheduling of the carpet, we postponed our cleaning night to Thursday. So I declared tonight a night off and took a little trip with the family in the Jeep. We went to Guitar Center first in South Austin. Chad just "had" to buy some fancy new lightweight drumsticks with his own money and Cameron can always find something to look at! They had a guitar competition while we were in the store that we didn't even know about. Two of the contestants got to move on to a higher level of competition for a Grand Prize - a 2007 Ford Mustang, a Gibson endorsement, and prizes from Apple, Levis and Sobe. It was pretty cool!

Then we headed out into the hill country...

We found a beautiful overlook toward downtown Austin and the Capitol...

The bluebonnets are starting to bloom. We saw these beside that same road...

We evidently found a very wealthy part of the country as we saw this Lamborghini driving beside us and turning into a phenomenal neighborhood. (The picture is a little blurry.) Cameron and Chad went bonkers over it...

We saw this house perched on the hillside and thought it was so cool. When we got closer and could see the balcony on the side, there was a For Sale sign. We will take it into consideration...no, I guess not. It's too far from Pflugerville!

We found a creek and stopped to enjoy the scenery...

LOOK at the picture below. There is something really strange in this picture! In the middle of the creek is a fire hydrant - go figure!

Awww! Can you feel the love?

FUN, fUn, FuN, fun...

A perfect end to a great time away from the grind...

Well, actually the end was when I was pooped on by a BIG bird under a tree at The Arboretum! Thankfully, my shirt did come clean!

Enjoyed all the nice pics. My niece was born in Austin in 1977. My sister attended Kenneth Phillips church at the time and was one of their organists.

Now as far as my ten year old son is concerned, there is only one of your pics worth looking at. He was begging me last week to let him buy a poster of a Lamborghini at the school book fair!

With all of the lovely pics, I feel like I did the tour with you all! Thanks for the trip!

Love the pictures of the countryside. They are so incredibly different from what's up here in Ohio.

As for the bird, some cultures believe that a bird pooping on you is good luck. I have yet to test this particular theory but I'll have faith for you.

I ejoyed the ride with you. All of the sudden I am missing home. I'm right there with you when it comes to being pooed on. When we preaching for Barry Claiborn we all took a trip to San Franscico and a bird pooed on me. I didn't feel very luky, though.

Most people probably drive right by that creek and never stop. What a lovely thing to do with your family. Glad you got a day break. Thanks for the post it was very refreshing. (I know you don't know me I hope you don't mind me posting)

Sis. Seymour,
We don't know you well, but we have met. You are welcome to post at any time! It was fun to take a little time to forget the normal schedule.

NO, this cannot be true!

Is it truly possible that you WANTED the top open/down/off and go for a backroads cruise?!? (Wait, I'm feeling short of breath...)

You said countrysides and 2-lane roads were boring, slow, and dull! You longed for the interstate!

These pic's are pretty, but they have to be fake! It's trick photography! There's NO WAY you went on a drive through the country! (Oh, what's happening...my head is dizzy, I better go sit down before I fall down. I need some medicine to clear my head of these pictures)

What has happened? Why the sudden change?? Are you guys OK? Do I need to call a doctor?? Let me know if I can help you out with anything!

Watch out, for drastic changes of behavior like this can have great effect upon the future of your life!

Wow - Rev. Wendell Elms! I have never seen a comment this long from you!!! These pictures are real; however, I will have to confess that it was not on a two lane country road that you like. It was slow enough for us, though.

I'm so proud of ya'll for taking off and enjoying the "ride" through the country! You need to go the real back roads now. You'll love it, I promise! The pictures are beautiful.

Wonderful you could take off with the family. Beautiful pics. I to like the roads you were on much better then the ones that may dead end that the Elms like so well. When did ya'll get the Jeep? Did you trade the car in?
