Fifty-six years ago today, December 9, Joel Keith Layne was born. He was the firstborn and only son of Murray and Lila Layne, my parents. I came along 16 years later!
Keith was one of the most loving, fun people you would ever meet. Several years ago, at Christmas time, we were all in Wichita Falls to celebrate together. We were all there, but Keith hadn't made it yet. Chad was about 3 or 4 years old. When Keith pulled up, Chad spotted him coming up the walkway to the house and said, "Here comes Uncle Keith with all the laughs." He couldn't have made a more true statement. When Keith was around, you were laughing. He loved to have fun.
In June of 2000, Keith left this world and went to a better place. We miss him TONS, but know that we have the promise of one day meeting him "in front of the throne". Today, I just wanted to post about him in memory of all that he meant to us.
Thanks for all the laughs, Keith.

Many memories flood my heart as I look at these pictures and remember! I miss Keith tremendously! I would just like to hear him say, "Hey beautiful!" again, but in my heart and mind I still hear his voice. Thank you Karla for the memories. "On the other side, treasures there have I. Treasures that this world and all it's wealth can never buy. When I reach that city and the gates swing open wide. I'll find my treasures waiting on the other side." This is our hope. I'm looking forward to that day.
It was a pleasure of ours to have met Keith. What a voice - loved hearing him sing!

A great memory about Keith...one of my best friends. Truly miss him!
I still can't believe he's gone and grieve for you three girls, having lost your fabulous brother and your beautiful parents in such a short span of time.
You're right, though. A better day is coming. All of us gathered round the throne of Heaven, reunited, rejoicing through the ages. Happy Day!
You've got to go over to my site and hear a song that will cheer you up. :)
Wow! Reading the responses to this post makes me want to write even more memories. Could we talk about Keith for hours and hours or what?! Thanks for all the memories.
Sis. Buxton, thanks for the song. It is definitely one to make you laugh!!
Hi Karla,
One of my first and favorite memories of Keith was of he and Ginger singing, "Never gonna look back." I've heard other versions, but theirs was the best!
I also enjoyed going to Peace Tabernacle as a new convert for the choir concerts. I loved to hear their quartet sing.
What an awesome voice. Thanks for sharing your memories.
